Bled

The Bled Island

The most recognisable symbol of the island is the Church of the Mother of God on the lake with its rich and diverse history, yet, behind the lush greenery, several interesting island buildings can be found, such as the bell tower, the chaplaincy and provost’s house, a small hermitage and some mysterious legends.

It is possible to sail to the island of Bled every day of the year in a hand-made wooden boat, propelled by a standing paddler. In-line electric motor boats or smaller boats are also available for transportation across the lake.

The Bled Castle

The Bled Castle is positioned on a 130-meter-high rock above the lake Bled. At the lower castle terrace, visitors are rewarded with wonderful views of the town of Bled, lake Bled with its island, Karavanke, views towards Lesce and Radovljica, Straža and Babji zob, sometimes of the whole of Gorenjska region.

You can combine a visit to Bled Castle with a pleasant hike or a bike ride, a carriage ride, and you can also visit the castle by car.

The landscape of the region around Bled is familiar and recognizable to everyone at first glance, but during their stay, visitors are still able to experience a lot of new things. Bled offers much more than just the lake, the island and the castle, it offers many other hidden and intimate gems, waiting to be discovered.

One of Bled’s special features are numerous hiking paths and possible trips available in its surrounding area. Well-maintained hiking paths take us to the solitary hills above the lake.
